About our labyrinth

A labyrinth is an ancient sacred circle and tool for spiritual practice. The labyrinth at the Chartres Cathedral in France inspires the pattern of the WHPC labyrinth. It provides a guided path to the center of the circle and out again. Some compare this to life’s journey. Whoever you are, walking the labyrinth has something to offer, from a time of reflection, to a time away from life’s busyness or perhaps, to some, a form of healing and spiritual renewal.

The WHPC labyrinth is the fulfillment of the vision of Lorena Chiles, a Girl Scout and member of WHPC. Lorena chose the creation of the labyrinth as her Girl Scout Silver Award project. She was inspired by her Grandmother and supported by her parents, LuCinda and Tate Chiles, and her brother Tate. Lorena reached out to WHPC for support in creating a labyrinth on Church land and the financial and construction expertise needed to complete the project.

The labyrinth is located in the lower part of the WHPC campus, just off the lower parking lot. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to use this labyrinth anytime. All you have to do is to show up, place one foot in front of the other and breathe. There’s no right way to do this. You simply have to follow your path.
