Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ - Galatians 6:2

Would you consider becoming a Stephen Minister?
God is alive and active, reconciling to Himself a broken world filled with pain, fear and suffering.  He often sends people to us to be the visible, tangible expression of Jesus Christ walking on earth, here and now to minister to others.  Stephen Ministers are one such expression of lay persons who care deeply and highly regard and protect confidentiality.  They have also devoted time to complete extensive training so they may best provide emotional and spiritual support for others during difficult seasons.

If you sense a calling and desire to learn more about training to become a Stephen Minister, contact Kevin Ireland, or Stacy Ikard.

Stephen Ministry is a commitment. Interested individuals are asked to complete a written application and are personally interviewed by the leaders of the Stephen Ministry team at WHPC. Those individuals who are selected for the program will then complete 50 hours of training, meet with a care receiver weekly, and attend supervision sessions twice a month.  Informational sessions are held each Fall and are open to anyone in the congregation interested in learning about Stephen Ministry.

If you become a Stephen Minister, you will learn more about yourself and hone your listening skills. You will explore a variety of Christian resources to enrich your spiritual life and equip you to reach out to others. You will become more confident of your ability, with God’s help, to be an effective care giver. And you will be part of a skilled, loving, genuinely caring group of people.
