Wendy has been attending WHPC for 12 years with her husband, Chris. She is a working mother of 3 tween thru college-aged children and has been involved with both children's and youth ministry teams at WHPC. Wendy will talk about her sometimes-imperfect lifelong journey as a Christian, and she will focus on caregiving and community. As she creates data analyses by trade, she will likely incorporate those as a part of her storytelling.

A service of lessons and carols with Christmas Choir, Worship Team, and Brass to celebrate the birth of our Savior.

This full Sunday Morning service will include scripture, carols, and a message celebrating our Savior’s birth. There will also be an instant children’s pageant! Any child attending can wear a church provided costume and participate in the story. Everyone is welcome and childcare will be provided for Pre-K and younger.

Becky joined WHPC with her husband, Dave, last year after retiring to Austin to live near their daughter and family, which includes grandchildren. Becky and Dave are both seminary graduates and have served churches in Kentucky, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, and Washington State. Becky looks forward to sharing how God’s faithfulness allowed her to be part of His larger story in every season and location.

 We are delighted to welcome WHPC Member, Caro Wilbanks. Caro joined WHPC with her husband, Matt, and their two children last year after they felt something was missing in their lives.

While Caro grew up in a church, she is only recently developing a relationship with God and loves the way it has directly impacted their family. Because of this, Caro is learning to embrace all the twists and turns in life as they are part of God’s greater plan. Caro will be sharing about her faith journey and the peace and comfort it has brought her family.

This Food Drive is for Hungry Souls, a program that provides evening and weekend meals for kids in Austin ISD who qualify for free breakfast and lunch programs. We have an opportunity to provide breakfast items for this population through our collection this month.  We will start collecting oatmeal and pancake mix. You can bring items to the Neighborhood Block Party or drop them off at the church in the blue bins (usually used for Manos Blue Bags).

Kelly Coulter is a licensed professional counselor and has a deep passion for empowering children, teens, adults and families as they navigate a variety of life’s stressors. With over 20 years of post-graduate experience, including 12 years as a school counselor at Eanes ISD, a clinical practice and in her private practice, Kelly helps families in learning how to communicate effectively and validate one another.

Kelly will be speaking to us about: How To Set Boundaries.

From Kelly: “I have also conduct a wide variety of staff trainings and parent workshops on topics such as: meeting the social and emotional needs of children, love and logic in schools and homes, parenting, and giftedness (over-excitabilities) in schools and home.”

Westlake Hills Presbyterian church is excited to welcome Jim Comer, author of When Roles Reverse: A Guide to Parenting your Parents as our March Stephen Minister Speaker.

Jim finished parenting his children when the unexpected happened: his father had a massive stroke and his mother developed dementia. Jim shares his experiences and insights after dealing with the unexpected life changing events and navigating the difficult and sometimes “humorous” situation that he encountered.

Join us after church on August 28th for food, fellowship, and fun. Learn how you can get involved in a Connect discussion group for our church-wide dive into The Apostles’ Creed.

This class will study what God’s Mission in the world looks like in our world today. We will explore questions like, “What is mission?” “Where is God at work?” And “How do we join in with what God is doing?”

This three-week class is the perfect way for all families to kick off the fall. It is specially designed to help you develop the faith of your kids at home. We will discover habits of faith formation around three topics:

Reading scripture as a family.

Praying as a family.

Remembering what God has done for our family.

Enjoy hands on, specific, and easy to take home strategies to deepen the way your family engages with faith. And donuts will be provided all three weeks! What could be better than that?
